PFAS

Funded by the US Department of Defense, EDL® is investigating the effectiveness of MCD® for remediating PFAS-contaminated soil. The project aims to validate MCD® scalability and effectiveness for treating PFAS laden soils.

Mussel Shell Valorisation

Through successful pilot trials, supported by the NZ Ministry for Primary Industries, EDL® has demonstrated that mussel shells can be converted into high purity calcium carbonate powders which have numerous applications across industry.

Asbestos

For asbestos fibres subjected to MCD® conditions, EDL® has shown at scale that mechanical milling leads to material fracture and fibre destruction. The end product of this process is an inert powder that is amenable to reuse for construction applications.

Past project

Successful project highlights

In partnership with the New Zealand Ministry for the Environment and Tasman District Council, EDL® led its largest project at the Fruitgrowers Chemical Company site in Mapua, remediating the country’s most contaminated soil to meet environmental standards.

EDL® led a soil decontamination project at a former US Airbase in Vietnam, commissioned by GEF and UNDP. Using MCD® technology, it treated Agent Orange and dioxin contamination. The UN approved MCD® for large-scale global remediation.

In a significant advancement in asbestos remediation, EDL® conducted pioneering trials in Johannesburg, South Africa, utilizing our MCD® system. These trials showcased the system’s capability to achieve complete asbestos degradation efficiently and effectively.
